There have already been reports of people dying while waiting in long queues all over the country to withdraw money after the demonetisation of notes that were big, but in an odd episode, an Uttar Pradesh bank saw new life take birth in its premises on Friday.
Based on a report in the Hindustan Times, a pregnant woman who had been waiting to get cash from a financial institution in the Kanpur Dehat district delivered her infant within the bank branch as an ambulance failed to reach the spot on time.
30-year-old Sarvesha was at the bank along with her mother in law when the event happened and was assisted by other women who have been present in the area in the delivery. Despite no professional help, Sarvesha delivered a healthy baby girl, and the mother and child were later shifted to some hospital in a police van with all the help of local policemen.
“She is not strong, but the infant is healthy. I had been terrified that I may lose Sarvesha, but she delivered a beautiful baby and is recuperating,” her mother-in-law said.
Sarvesha had lost her husband and had gone to the lender to get the compensation amount that was given to her family by the authorities.
